Just Another Day?

It was just another day. 

In fact it may have been tougher than a normal day. We had an argument about something and were feeling the fracturing of our closeness. The week had taken hold and there were things on both of our minds that demanded attention and focus. 

Here I was taking my turn, out with our two little kids, on a sledding hill near our home.

The brightness of the sun on the fresh snow was so beautiful and the crisp air woke me up a bit to the fact that this was a moment to enjoy. To relish, not be reluctant in.

The focus turned my heart towards home and the one there that I love. There was a fresh patch of snow in the stomped area we were standing, and I had this thought: Write I LOVE YOU in the snow and send her the shot. Do it "just because"; no explanation or follow up; not to see what I can get back. Just do it.

I did. I took the pic. Inspired, I felt to touch it up (gotta love smart phones) and I sent it off. 

Back at the house the atmosphere between was much warmer and loving. It didn't feel tougher than normal anymore. It was "us again" and laughter came easily.

Later she said my pic made her cry a little. It certainly opened up our hearts to what we have in each other even during normal days.

What was just another day became another day in touch with how blessed we are together. It happened through a simple perspective change, an expression of love, and letting that be the defining thing.
